Laboratory Overview

Holdings Research Institute (artience Co., Ltd. Group R&D Division)

Next-Generation Technology Research Department

We are engaged in research for the purpose of creating new businesses and developing new products in growth industries such as batteries, sensors, and AI and semiconductors. We are developing the organic material technology we have cultivated so far and the new inorganic material technology that plays an important role in the expression of functions. In addition, we are responsible for the development of "Koto" services that realize co-creation between people and AI, and the strengthening of the foundation of the Group's analysis functions that support product development for next-generation businesses.

High Performance Materials Research Department

We are engaged in the development of new technologies using material development and open innovation for the purpose of developing new products and technologies in the Group's strategic priority business groups. We are promoting the development of new polymers, optical control materials, and elemental technologies related to advanced electronics such as semiconductors and sensors, the development of new cross-linking technologies related to the environment and energy, and the further strengthening and utilization of nano-dispersion technologies and elemental technologies such as MI cultivated through the development of color materials.

AI Innovation Technology Department

With the basic mission of improving research and development capabilities through the acquisition and practice of advanced DX methods, we are working to strengthen and integrate the three fields of computational chemistry, materials informatics, and generative AI. We are creating a foundation for selecting and operating the most suitable method according to the status of R&D, such as predicting physical properties and elucidating mechanisms using computational chemistry, searching for optimization of composition and molecular structure using machine learning, and generative AI-RAG systems that can utilize accumulated document data by anyone.

Process Innovation Laboratory

We are working on production technology innovation with the aim of strengthening our manufacturing base. In order to develop innovative processes in the main production processes of synthesis, dispersion, and coatings, we are engaged in a wide range of activities, from basic research such as mechanism elucidation, molecular/crystal/coating structure control, and bioprocessing to rational process design for industrialization. is. We are also working on developing a production monitoring system that utilizes data science and sensing technology in order to create a smart factory.

Research centers at operating companies

TOYOCOLOR CO., LTD.

Advanced Materials Development Laboratory

Our main mission is medium-term research and development in the colorants and functional materials segment, and we are working on the development of materials and technologies that can lead the market as a top runner in the next-generation markets of each business area. In addition to brushing up our core materials and core technologies, we are also focusing on acquiring new materials while greedily taking on new challenges such as data science using MI.

TOYOCHEM CO., LTD.

Advanced Polymer R&D lab

In order to develop new products and create new businesses in the polymer and coatings segment, we will utilize and refine our core technologies of polymer synthesis and coatings to create new polymer materials and elemental technologies that will serve as a source of product differentiation. It is working. Specifically, we are working on the development of polymer materials and elemental technologies with keywords of high heat resistance, high durability, high adhesion, biodegradation, and water-based in the information and communication, environment/energy, and life science fields.

TOYO INK CO., LTD.

Packaging Materials Laboratory

We are developing materials for next-generation products in printing, information, and packaging-related businesses. We are developing materials for environmentally friendly products that reduce carbon dioxide emissions, save resources and energy, and recycle plastics in response to global warming and ocean plastic issues in recent years, as well as electronics materials that can create wiring patterns by printing. Masu. We continue to take on the challenge of innovation in manufacturing in order to realize a safer, more secure and sustainable society.
