Introducing a cleaning solvent recycling system reduces waste solvent by 70%

-Continuous processing systems also help reduce the burden on manufacturing sites where there is a shortage of manpower-

Toyo Morton, Ltd. of the Toyo Ink Group ( President and Representative Director Yuichi Kobayashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) introduced a cleaning solvent recycling system at the Saitama Plant (Hiki-gun, Saitama Prefecture). We have reduced the amount of waste solvent generated in the cleaning process of production equipment by 70% compared to last year.

Toyo-Morton Saitama Factory manufactures laminating adhesives mainly used for flexible packaging materials, but when changing products, production equipment must be cleaned with solvent, and the environmental impact of solvent waste after cleaning is an issue. It was. With the newly introduced cleaning solvent recycling system, we have reduced waste by 70% compared to last year by distilling and concentrating used solvents, making it possible to use the distilled solvent again for cleaning. In addition, by continuously processing the used solvent in a closed line from the time it is collected in a tank to the time it is used again for cleaning, we are able to achieve efficient recycling and contribute to reducing the burden on manufacturing sites where there is a shortage of manpower.

In addition to focusing on the development and manufacturing of environmentally friendly products such as solvent-free laminating adhesives, Toyo-Morton Saitama Factory will be able to regenerate virtually all of the electricity it uses from April 2022 through the use of FIT non-fossil certificates with tracking. We are working to reduce CO 2 emissions throughout the product life cycle, such as by switching to energy-derived electricity. Aiming to realize "a world where all consumers, life forms, and the global environment coexist and live together in harmony," we will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by reducing the environmental impact of manufacturing and promoting decarbonization. I will continue to do so.
