(President and Representative Director Satoru Takashima, Chuo-ku, Tokyo participated in the "Research ™ EXPO 2025" as a celebratory organization and presented the "Art × Science Resonates with Sensibilities" award to moving and exciting research that combines creativity and scientific ideas that stimulate the five senses. Awarded to "Why does fish sashimi glow? ~Exploratory study of structural colors seen on the surface of sashimi~".

"Research ™ EXPO is a contest sponsored by Tomonokai Co., Ltd. to present the results of inquiry for junior and senior high school students nationwide. Companies and organizations that participated as a recognition organization will set up awards from their respective perspectives, and will judge and award their works.

We are committed to realizing a future where all people can live enriched lives by creating value that resonates with the senses through the "chemistry of art and science". We participated in the "Research ™ EXPO that is too free" because we believed that by supporting the original ideas and research of junior and senior high school students across the country, we could foster innovative ideas and enthusiasm of the younger generation and contribute to the realization of "a future where all people can live enriched lives".

The awarded "Why does fish sashimi glow? ~Exploratory study of structural colors found on the surface of sashimi~" is a study that investigates why structural colors seen on the cross-section of sashimi appear.
The artistry can be felt from the unique idea of finding the structural color that is the "beauty of nature" from the fish sashimi on the dining table and digging deeper. This research was selected as the "Art × Science Award" because of its high scientific quality from the research process of formulating hypotheses and appropriately circulating PDCA, and its attitude of working to elucidate the mechanism of color development from multiple angles.
