Various functions are added to aluminum parts|Coatings for electrodeposition coatings

Examples of painting on aluminum
TOYOCHEM electrodeposition paints are electrodeposition paints designed to "give function" to aluminum materials rather than just applying a coating.
Compared to anodized aluminum and general coatings, it has a clear advantage in aluminum applications where functions such as insulation, processing following, and durability are required, and it is recommended for those who are considering surface treatment for functional parts.

High metal adhesion to aluminum materials

TOYOCHEM 's electrodeposition coatings exhibit stable metal adhesion to aluminum substrates due to their high molecular weight and functionalized resin design. It is resistant to peeling even after cold and thermal shock and environmental impact tests, ensuring high reliability in electrodeposition coating on aluminum materials.

Test conditions
Measurement sample: A1050 painted panel (flat plate), test temperature: -40°C on the low temperature side, 180°C on the high temperature side, exposure time: 15 minutes each on the high and low temperatures, number of cycles: 500 times, physical property evaluation items: coating appearance (visual), cross-cut adhesion (JIS K 5600-5-6), dielectric breakdown voltage (DC voltage), 25°C 50%RH under air

Stable insulation performance due to high film thickness design

This product takes advantage of the uniform film thickness formability unique to electrodeposition coating, and the insulation performance can be controlled by the film thickness design. Even in aluminum substrates, the breakdown voltage increases stably with the increase in film thickness, so it is possible to design backwards from the required voltage. These coatings are suitable for applications where insulation reliability is required.

Process tracking to withstand post-painting processing

In general, electrodeposition coatings are hard and tend to crack easily during post-painting processing, but this product has high processing follow-up. It is difficult to crack the coating film or apply electricity even during bending and stamping after painting, and it is possible to design the process based on the premise of post-coating processing. It contributes to improving process freedom and reducing defects.

Corrosion and chemical resistance equal to or greater than that of white anodized aluminum

This product exhibits excellent corrosion, chemical, and water-based resistance to aluminum substrates. It is resistant to coating deterioration even in acid, humid heat, and water environments, and has high durability. It is a valid alternative to anodized aluminum in applications where functionality is important.

"Frequently Asked Questions" about electrodeposition paints for aluminum

There are two main types: cationic electrodeposition and anion electrodeposition. Our paints are compatible with anion electrodeposition.

This is a high degree of freedom in functional design. Electrodeposition coating allows for uniform control of film thickness, which can provide insulation, corrosion resistance, and processing follow-up. In particular, it can be processed after painting, and in some cases, it surpasses anodized aluminum in terms of chemical resistance and water-based resistance.

In many cases, it is possible, but a preliminary evaluation is required. Since the surface conditions and electrodeposition properties vary depending on the alloy composition (Mg, Si, etc.), it is recommended to test the actual material in advance.

It is suitable for aluminum parts that require insulation, durability, and processability, such as electrical and electronic components, aluminum enclosures and frames, and functional parts that are considering alternative to anodized aluminum.
