ADLM2025 is one of the world's largest conferences and exhibitions for clinical testing and in vitro diagnostics (IVD), with nearly 20,000 clinical technologists, researchers, healthcare professionals, and pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers from around the world attending its annual conference, with nearly 1,000 companies exhibiting. It is an important conference that serves as a starting point for international academic exchange and business in the field of in vitro diagnostics, where the latest technologies and research results in clinical laboratory medicine, molecular diagnosis, clinical chemistry, etc. are introduced, and the latest technologies in various fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), POCT (in-hospital immediate testing), molecular diagnosis, and automated equipment are presented at corporate exhibitions.

In fiscal 2024, artience group began selling near-infrared fluorescent probes and polymers for testing and diagnostic reagents that make full use of its core technologies of colorants and polymer design technologies in the field of biotechnology, which is one of its next-generation businesses, and has been accumulating achievements through promotions at exhibitions and academic conferences in Japan * By exhibiting the Sciforiem ™ series of life science products at ADLM2025, we will take the first step in business development for overseas markets, which are said to account for more than 70% of the market.

July 9, 2025, Tokyo, Japan—artience Co., Ltd., the holding company for Tokyo-based chemicals manufacturing group, artience Group, will be rolling out the Sciforiem ™ PL 1000 Series of functional synthetic polymers to markets outside of Japan, beginning July. Sciforiem polymers are synthesized from non-biological raw materials and can be engineered to replicate biological functions, making them valuable for the development of biosensors, diagnostic assays and other in vitro diagnostic (IVD) systems.

IVDs are medical devices used to analyze biological samples like blood or tissue to diagnose diseases. Sciforiem PL 1000 polymers are specially optimized for use in IVDs that rely on antigen-antibody reactions to detect target molecules. When used to coat the substrate material in antigen-antibody reaction detection, these polymers can prevent non-specific protein adsorption, enhance detection sensitivity and stabilize proteins, thus improving overall reagent performance.

Such biological functions performed by Sciforiem polymers are useful in various applications, such as blocking agents in immunoassays like ELISA and immunochromatography or as protein stabilizers in IVD assays. In biomolecule research, they act as additives in diagnostic reagents due to their ability to enhance functionality and stability.

With a century-plus heritage rooted in printing ink innovation, artience is uniquely positioned to apply its cutting-edge technologies, which have been honed over the decades, to engineer polymer products that address the stringent quality standards of today’s medical, electronics and other high-end fields. “Historically, bio raw materials were considered a biomanufacturing challenge for their inconsistent quality,” said Nozomu Hatano, General Manager of artience 's Biotech Business Unit in Japan. “By adopting artience ’s polymer design and dispersion technologies to address stability issues in raw materials, our engineers were able to fabricate a functional polymer for in vitro diagnostic reagents that exhibit minimal variation in quality. We expect the new Sciforiem PL 1000 Series to significantly reduce diagnostic errors and improve patient care, going forward.”

The Sciforiem Series of life science products from artience will be making its global debut at ADLM 2025 (or ADLM Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo), in Chicago, from July 27 to 31, 2025. In addition to functional synthetic polymers, artience will be featuring the Sciforiem FI Series of near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence probes for high-sensitivity imaging.
